  • For the Biscuits:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • For the Garlic Butter Topping:
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture is crumbly with pea-sized bits of butter.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and gently mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  8. While biscuits bake, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley flakes for the topping.
  9. Once baked, brush biscuits generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes and serve warm.
